Sabres traded for Vesey's rights. Wonder if Don Sweeney is sweating a little. |

Damn... a 3rd round pick for Vesey's rights... that's kind of insane. I would have to guess they've already got a pretty solid deal in place in order to trade a 3rd round pick for him. How much would that hurt if he just walks?
Andersen to TOR too... things are starting to get interesting.
Shattenkirk would be a nice way to kick things off

Vesey is still going to the FA market in August, from what I've heard. But the Sabres could do a wholeeeee lot to sell him on Buffalo 'til then. |

Well, if they have a great draft, make a big FA splash (think: Stamkos, as far fetched as it may seem), and that they're close to winning and that he's a fit next to Eichel on their top line, then boom, that's hard to pass up. I don't know though. I don't know the kid personally, but it seems like some of that stuff might be important. |

So what is the realistic Shattenkirk proposal? Rights to a UFA are about 4th round material so that is just a potential sweetener in a deal. |

No thanks. Blues have Bortuzzo (& to a lesser extent, Edmundson) as their resident meat head, so no need for McQuaid. Especially at $2.75 mil. Griffith is a mid-level prospect, so nothing to get excited about. The 29th, 3rd, & Eriksson's rights are OK, but this is more quantity vs. quality.
Something like this is more suitable, IMO:
Shattenkirk
3rd
for
Forsbacka-Karlsson OR Senyshyn
#14
Rights to Loui Eriksson |

Mmmm...no. Shattenkirk is in the last year of his deal and as much as I like him, that's entirely too much for him and a 3rd if he wants to test the UFA waters next year. Senyshyn should be untouchable.

The Blues have an excess of blue line personnel. They need a young NHL forward and they need a high end prospect (or a high draft pick). Barring that, they need to move Shattenkirk in a different direction. Think quality for quality. Spooner and #14 for Shattenkirk and Sobotka's rights. |

He is from New York, but he went to school at Boston University. He has longed to get back to the Northeast, so Boston would have a huge leg-up on resigning him. If he's traded to Boston, or either NY team, there's almost no chance he leaves after the season. |

So... if you can extend him, you just added a defenseman you don't have to protect in the expansion draft because you wait to sign it until after. If you can't extend, you can easily get a first and a solid prospect for him at the trade deadline.
Shattenkirk is the best RHD on the market. You're not going to get him for players you are happy to part with, or sending back un-needed cap hits. |

Blahhhh! Unless Blues take back a contract like Seids or Quaider I wouldn't take the chance on giving up a boatload of youth for a guy with one year left on his deal and can walk. Despite his 40+ points and 11 in the playoffs, I watched him a lot in he playoffs and his isn't exactly a huge upgrade in his own end. I'd rather take my chances that Yandle will be there for just cash and keep my prospects/picks.
I think Shattenkirk's a bit overrated IMO. Hopefully Sweeney doesn't panic now that there's been a bit of player movement and makes a panic move like he did with Hamilton. My fear is he overpays BIG TIME! |

If Vesey is a B's fan, I doubt he would want to play here next season because I'm a B's fan and would find it hard to want to play on this team over a young up and coming Sabres team. Most of this team is on the decline and I don't think Shattenkirk will save them. They aren't one player away... |

The way the bruins organization and coaching staff treats young talented players i'm sure few would pick us to play for. |

I wouldn't be so sure. Weber wasn't exactly lights on in the playoffs. He was actually pretty bad against the Sharks and took a ton of bad penalties. |

After trading Seth Jones, I dont see them looking to ship Weber out. He has been their one constant for so long and no one on that team can replace what he brings. Plus, what would we be giving up to get him? He is 30 now, with just over a 7.8M cap hit, signed for another decade. |

So on friday we need to somehow get DoTheDougie and Glove_Was_Stuck in here so we can duplicate last years festivities as we all watched the bruins go up in flanes. |
